The Q1900C-1N is a VITERBI/TRELLIS decoder. The Q1900C-1N forward error correction improves the bit error rate performance of power limited and bandwidth limited channels by adding structured redundancy to the transmitted data. The type of additive noise experienced on the channel determines the class of FEC used on the channel. Tree codes of the Q1900C-1N are used for channels with additive white gaussian noise and block codes are used for channels with additive burst noise.
